Went to a wine tasting thing (Vinopolis) in London and stayed over night near Tower Bridge. Great night out and what a lovely day! Outstanding to see Tower Bridge open and close.
Great excitement about the new book. We went down to Borders and saw what they had planned. Contest, singing, paintings and owls! We did not stay until midnight, but I did go out around 9am on the Saturday to get two copies from Tesco. Lauren spent most of the weekend buried in the book and Tom started to read the previous one, so he can take over after Lauren has finished. Alex even joined in the reading bug. A quiet weekend!!
WOW! What a great day. It was the RAF air show at Fairford. I went there with Roger, and we both got a bit deafer and covered in the coloured smoke from the aeroplanes. We found a field on the other side of the airstrip from the general public stands. The planes flew right over us (as you can see). I cannot wait until next year. Here's a video clip of the Red Arrow bit, might put the new Euro Fighter footage up later - that plane was amazingly loud and nimble.
Tom went in for a operation to remove a tooth. He was cool about it and took the time off school in his stride. I have a "cease and desist" order from him, so no pictures. I'm just proud of him being so brave.
Took Lauren and Tom to Wembley Stadium. It was the first time for them and the first time for me at the new stadium. Also their first really big "outdoor" event. We were really impressed by Wembley and the service (no queues). The picture is Puff Daddy - who surprised everyone with "Missing You". Fantastic concert with amazing performances from Natasha Beddingfield, Rod Stewart, Will Young, Elton John - plus a lot of others. I will never forget dancing and singing with Lauren to Shine by Take That.
Went to see this film with the kids. It was better than the first one, but still not up to my expectations as someone who grew up reading the comics. I hope the franchise does go on and get better.
I saw Serena Williams (US, 7) beat Alicia Molik (Australia) 7-6 (7-4) 6-3. It was interesting to see the new Hawkeye tracking system. Also saw R Federer (Switzerland, 1) leads J M Del Potro (Argentian) 6-2 7-5 1-0, then rain stopped play. Still Paul Mitchell and I enjoyed the day out.
